The extremely accurate power regulation and good spectral quality of these generators makes them suitable for a wide variety of industrial and research applications, such as plasmas, ion sources and heat treatment by dielectric loss.

These generators arc equipped with klystron tubes mounted in an amplifier arrangement, excited by a low-level circuit driven by a low-power oscillator (DRO) with ultra-stable frequency. The generator transmission power measured by a crystal detector is regulated from a 0-10 V reference by fast electronics controlling a pin diode. A system reduces forward power if reflected power reaches a threshold of 10 % of maximum power.
