Tungsten Baskets prove to be an effective method of reaching high temperatures with low current. Low cost, ease of use, multi-directional coatings and low power requirements are amongst the benefits of using tungsten baskets as an evaporation source for your deposition process. Baskets are usually used to evaporate pellets or chips of dielectrics or metals which either sublime or do not wet the wire material upon melting. If wetting occurs, the turns of the basket are shorted and the temperature of the source drops.

Our Basket Heaters are made from multi-stranded Tungsten wire and provide an economical way to heat most crucibles using low amperage.
Please note that the temperature of the basket heater does not represent the temperature of the crucible or material inside the crucible. There can be up to a 50% loss of temperature when monitoring actual evaporant temperatures. For this reason we do not recommend basket heaters for materials above 1000oC melting point. Shielded crucible heaters should be considered for higher temperature materials.
